Overview

Come and enjoy learning how to work effectively with clients who present with Complex Trauma.

In this first Module we’re going to begin with Trauma and dissociation, a quick start guide. Why quick start? With complex trauma clients we need to begin to lay a foundation before we even begin to coach our clients with dissociation. We look at the one common denominator with dissociation and discover 2 different options to assist our clients to recognise what is happening with their dissociation.

Next we look at the neuroscience of dissociation, the neuroscience model of dissociation plus the defence cascade model, and how we can apply these practically to assist our clients to build ongoing practices to build resilience and help the brain release it’s “on” button. Also included are the neuropsychological functions and dissociation and we break them down to aid clients in understanding dissociation is made up of a number of different elements. We use these elements to provide practical understanding and applications for individual clients.

Structural Dissociation is our next topic and by the end of the research I was ready to stop everything and specialise in this area. The multiple layers of each area, the apparently normal person and emotional person and how they fit into structural dissociation, how we can learn to use Frasers Dissociative Table Technique, the real meaning of what integration is with dissociation, warning signs of structural dissociation, the different names and layers of dissociation and very real, authentic conversation between D.I.D. individual and professionals. Also covering 7 types of dissociation plus questions for clients to determine if they are dissociating.

Working with our clients to develop an internal safe space is our one next step. We look at all the dimensions needed for a complex trauma coach to effectively work with individual clients in this area. Especially with complex trauma we need to know how to work with our clients as we take them into new internal territory. Also included in this module is a step by step ebook and individual slides for clients to be able to begin their unique process.

Dissociation disrupts our motivation, leaving us anywhere from bedridden to aiming to just get through the day. Through this module we’re going to understand trauma informed Motivational Interviewing and how we as coaches can implement and build greater understanding of the demotivational behaviours and what’s driving them – what feels like endlessly at times. Working with our clients with the worksheets can bring new insights and new behaviours which effectively help our clients continue their recovery journey instead of feeling like one step forward, and two steps back.

Now it’s time for our second case study. We look at the process of the experiential learning cycle, the questions that arise from following the on the learning cycle, and how we can practically apply it to our clients recovery journey. It’s a module jam packed with all the tools from previous core units to use as part of your case study plus a full length case study to learn from.
